Accessing the KU Address Book using Whitepages.ku.edu

This message applies only to users that have configured IMAP or POP connections to Exchange AND have set up access to the KU Address Book through directory.ku.edu.  Most of these users are using the Thunderbird, Outlook Express, or Windows Mail email software. See www.email.ku.edu/imap for a list of the most commonly-used IMAP and POP software.

The following are NOT affected by this issue:  Outlook Web Access (OWA), Outlook, Entourage, Outlook Mobile Access (OMA) and mobile devices using Exchange ActiveSync to connect to KU email accounts.

The only exceptions would be if Outlook, Entourage, or email software on a mobile device was configured for IMAP or POP access to Exchange AND an LDAP connection to the KU Address Book through directory.ku.edu.

If you are using a program that is not on the list above, use these general instructions to configure an LDAP connection to the KU Address Book.

  • LDAP directory server = whitepages.ku.edu
  • Turn on SSL
  • Port = 636
  • Search Base = ou=people,dc=ku,dc=edu
