Install Outlook 2003 for Windows from Office 2003 CD
Note: The configuration instructions below are for those users who have a Microsoft Office 2003 installation CD.
- Insert the installation CD into your drive and wait for the installation screen to appear. Choose your installation options and be sure to include Outlook. If you have a previous version of Outlook or Office installed, the installation will ask if you want to remove the older versions of programs. Note that you are required to remove older versions of Outlook during the installation process. You may be required to provide a product key and / or customer information such as name and initials. Complete the installation by clicking Next through the installation wizard.
- If you have just upgraded form a previous version of Outlook, you don't need to do anything further, as all of your previous settings have been kept. You can simply start Outlook and begin using the new version. If you have not just upgraded, but rather are installing Outlook for the first time on your computer, proceed to the next step.
- Once the installation is complete, go to the Start menu and select Control Panel.
- Double click Mail.
- Click Add to create a new profile, give the profile a name and then click OK.
- In the wizard that comes up, select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
- Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.
- In the box labeled Microsoft Exchange Server: enter exchange.ku.edu. In the box labeled User Name: enter your email login (i.e. the part of your email address before the @).
- Ensure that the checkbox labeled Use Cached Exchange Mode is unchecked.
- Click the Check Name button. You may be prompted to login and provide your username and password. If you are so prompted, enter "home\username" (without quotes, where username is your email login) and your password. Click OK.
- Once the name check is successful, you will notice that your user name becomes underlined and the exchange server changes from exchange.ku.edu to the specific exchange server on which your mailbox is located.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish. You are now ready to use Outlook.
