Changing Outlook 2000 from Internet E-mail Only to Corporate/Workgroup

Please note that changing Outlook 2000 from Internet E-mail Only to the Corporate/Workgroup configuration changes the configuration for all accounts. If you use Outlook 2000 to view multiple accounts, please contact the IT Customer Service Center at 864-8080 for assistance before making this change. If you installed Outlook 2000 from a personal CD, you will need the CD to make this change.

  1. You need to have Outlook open on your computer.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Options.
  3. Click on the Mail Services tab.
  4. Click on the Reconfigure E-mail Support button at the bottom of the window.
  5. Outlook will warn you that the change you are about to make will be in effect for all configurations. Click OK. Outlook will close automatically.
  6. Right click on the desktop icon for Outlook 2000. A menu will appear. Select Properties.
  7. Click on the Show Profiles button.
  8. Click Add.
  9. Choose Manually Configure Information Services and click Next >.
  10. Provide a Profile Name. This can be any name of your choosing. Click Next >.
  11. Click Add to add a service to your profile.
  12. Choose Microsoft Exchange Server from the list. Click OK.
  13. In the Microsoft Exchange Server: field enter the server name: exchange.ku.edu
  14. In the Mailbox: field, type your username. This is what appears before the @ku.edu in your email address.
  15. Click the Check Name button. The standard login screen will appear.
  16. In the username field, type your username. In the domain field, type home. In the password field, enter your password. Click OK. The Microsoft Exchange Server: field should display your server name underlined, e.g. SKYLARK2, and your full name will appear underlined in the Mailbox: field. Click OK.
  17. Click Add.
  18. Choose Outlook Address Book from the list. Click OK. You will not be prompted for any information.
  19. Click OK.
  20. Click Finish.
  21. At the bottom of the Mail properties window, choose your new profile from the pull-down menu under When starting Outlook, use this profile:. Click Close.
